Nothing about Ross, but there is a bit on the McNitt family and another bit on Capt Robert J. McNitt. This Capt Robert J. McNitt served in the Civil War and married a daughter of John Naginey. The McNitt family settled in the Kish Valley sometime between 1752 and 1754. Five brothers of the McNitts came together: Robert, John, William, Alexander and James. Alexander McNitt, a son of John, died in 1830. Brown McNitt, son of Alexander, is now (1879) a resident (he married a lady from Maine). A young Robert McNitt, a cousin of Brown McNitt's father, Alexander, at the age of 8 years was captured by the Indians and carried to Canada where he remained near 3 years. .....he returned to his old home, was afterwards married, and a few months after was killed by the falling of a tree in sight of the point where he was made prisoner when a boy. This Robert McNitt married Jane Taylor, a daughter of Henry Taylor Sr. Five months after the death of McNitt (by the falling tree), a daughter was born who became the wife of Robert Milliken. Hope this helps out a bit, Sue Notify Administrator about this message?
