Marino/Payne
I have hit a brick wall with our great grandmother!Ellen Payne married Frank Marino in Philadelphia in 1886.They had three children - Frances P. Marino - Eleonora Marino and John Paul Marino (between 1886 and 1888).Eleonora died at 16 months and was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery on S 10th Street.Frank Marino re-married in DC in 1894 and his son Frances is shown in the DC Census with him and his new wife, but not John Paul, so I am assuming John Paul stayed with Ellen in Philadelphia. However, eventually John Paul shows up in DC with his father too.A family member told me she used to have a telegraph that was sent to John Paul and his wife from Philadelphia informing them that Ellen Payne had passed away and they needed money for her burial. The telegram has since been lost so I can't even get a rough date of when she passed, but I do know that John was married by the year 1909 and passed away in 1936 so I'm sure it was between those two dates.I cannot find any census records, directories, etc. with the family listed or Ellen listed as single in Philadelphia. It's like she fell off the face of the earth!!!She was listed on the marriage index as Ellie Payne, listed on her daughter's death certificate as Eleonora Payne and on another death certificate for her daughter as Nora Payne. She was listed on John Paul's death certificate as Ellen Payne.Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I go from here!!!I assume Ellen and Frank divorced when he left Philly and came to DC where he re-married.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!Thanks
