Elias RAHN b. 1825 Pennsylvania
I am having a hard time finding information on Elias Rahn, born 1825 in Pennsylvania. The hard part is that there are two Elias Rahns born exactly the same year. The first Elias Rahn was the son ofDaniel Rahn and Susan Munshower. He was married to Catherine Longacre and lived his life in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He was born on July 12, 1825 and died on July 3, 1905.
The second Elias Rahn has the middle initial S.He has been known to also use the alternate spelling of Rahn- RAWN in the later years of his life.Information on this man has been very scarce. He was born in 1825 in Pennsylvania. He was forty years old before he married my great great grandmother, Mary Matilda PARKS in Delaware County, Ohio on May 24, 1865.In the 1860 Montgomery County, Pennsylvania census, he was single andwas listed as a shoemaker. He also registered for the Civil War draft in the 6th congressional district in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in June 1863- meaning that he lived in Pennsylvania until he was at least 38.I have found no evidence that he actually served in the Civil War. He was listed by profession as a cordwainer which is a shoe maker who makes fine soft leather shoes.I have been unsuccessful in trying to locate him in the 1850 census. It seems so strange that Elias can't be found in any public records prio to the 1860 census (when he was 35).Any help locating this man would be greatly appreciated.I suspect that he may be a cousin of the other Elias Rahn from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania who descends from Johann Caspar Rahn, known German who immigrated to Trappe.Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
