Joseph Eugene Lombardo {Lumbardo} born 1910 Nanty Glo Pa.
My Grandfather was Joseph Eugene Lombardo {later spelled Lumbardo}. He was born February 6th 1910 in Nantyglo, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. His parents came from Italy and died when Joseph was young. I know they were naturalized and I know they were born in Italy but I don't know what their names were. I know my grandfather was in an orphanage. He may have had a brother Philip. He may have had sisters {Betty, Dorothy, Mary, June}.
He served in World War II. He enlisted in the Army on August 25th 1928 first Stationed at the Carlisle Pa. Barracks, he married my grandmother Mary Belle Bowermaster on September 5th 1931 in Hagerstown Maryland. They had 5 children in Carlisle Pa. They divorced January 1946.
My Grandfathers second wife was named Eva in Lynnwood California. I think there were sons Gene and David Lombardo. I'm told Gene is still alive in California.
My Grandfathers third wife was Josephine Linn {born March 22nd 1909}. They lived in either North Carolina or South Carolina until he died November 7th 1989 in Columbia SC.
He is buried as CAPTAIN JOSEPH EUGENE LUMBARDO at Salisbury National Cemetery, Rowan County, Salisbury North Carolina.
I would really like to know the names of his parents, and how they died and where they came from in Italy.
My guess is that they worked {and died} in the mines up in Cambria County outside Nantyglo. There was an Italian shanty town in that area at that time. I think My Grandfather was later at the orphanage {St. Johns} in Cresson Pa. Near Altoona Pa. I do know he dropped out of High School in Altoona about 1926.
I suspect that he may be connected to the Lombardo's in the Barnsboro Pa. area. My father thinks that he may be connected to the Lombardo's from Juniata Gap.
