The 40 acres listed in PA records was in the neighborhood of Hwy 209 (Upper Smithfield) and what was then Dingman Ferry (Milford). I suspect the family may have been employed as teamsters. They only owned enough land for small scale farming, or more likely stables. This area was well traveled to get around the NY Metro area, allowing travel between Kingston, NY and Philadelphia,PA. When they settled in Ohio, the setup at the junction of three major trails.
It is possible another relation was in Connecticut Farms (Union,NJ)area, as in 1775 Daniel Cady joined the first Establishment First Battalion of the NJ Line. This area was settled by Colonist from Canterbury, CT
