Vance/Wentz - Shanon family c.1800

Looking for information on a VANCE/WENTZ-SHANON family living in Allegheny County around 1800.

Unknown VANCE/WENTZ m.
Elizabeth SHANON 5Apr1784-20Apr1856
Jane WENTZ Silvius 14Mar1802 - 30Apr1895
Elizabeth VANCE Shickley 1810 - aft. 1897
Harry VANCE abt. 1806 - died bef. 1895

Jane's obituary stated that she had been born in "Allegheny City when it was just a very small place" and migrated with her parents over the mountains to Lancaster, PA when she was 4 (1806). Father's name is not known. The move to Lancaster was permanent as the elder Elizabeth, Jane, and Jane's brother-in-law Jacob Shickley all died in Lancaster.

Elizabeth SHANON may have been Irish as Jane gave Ireland as her mother's place of origin in the 1880 census.

VANCE may be an anglicized version of WENTZ but, as Jane married into a PA German family, it could also just as easily be an English name that got Dutchified. Her descendents have noted the name as WENTZ, but her obituary and a Bible record note it as VANCE.

Interested in knowing more about this family that bucked all trends and migrated east!
