I am researching the McCrystal family tree.
My grand uncles, John, Tommy, Hugh(b.20.6.1868), and Peter(b.22.8.71) McCrystal emigrated from Tyrone, Ireland in the late 1800's, possibly to Philadelphia. Also two grand aunts, Roseanne and Alice (m.1894 to Patrick McBride), Philadelphia. Alice and Patrick McBride had at least two children Michael b.1896 and Mary b.1898. Alice and her 2 American children are recorded in the 1901 Census of Ireland as visitors in her parent's house, Denis McCrystal and Mary(Montague) of Mullaghslin, Carrickmore Co. Tyrone.
I believe two of the brothers, John and Hugh ?? had a successful coal business in Philadelphia in the 1920's and 1930's.
Two other brothers, Patrick and Michael, and a sister Bridget (m.Michael Keenan,1888) remained in Ireland, married and had large families.
My grand father Patrick was widowed in 1915 with 4 young children. He was known as 'Yankie Pat', so obviously there was a strong American connection. He emigrated to New York in 1925, leaving his son Patrick aged 14, in charge of the farm at Mullaghslin. My grand father died in 1940 in New York. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Queens.
There is a large McCrystal family circle in Co.Tyrone and we would love to trace our American cousins!
