Thank you all for your interest and input. I do have a copy of the marriage certificate which does tell Mabel Thompson's place of birth, but no information on her parents. I will try to get a death certificate. I do know where Mabel Thompson was buried and the year of her death (Chestertown MD and 1948). I too have not had too much luck in nailing down Mabel as a child and did find the Mabel Thompson you found living with her aunt and uncle, but of course we do not know if that is the correct one at this juncture. I have also hit a wall in linking a
John Thompson, Mabel Thompson and a McVae (supposedly her mother's maiden name).
