Meridee--This is one of my major lines (my mother is a Floyd) and I recently found a lot of information on the Floyd Family.

Samuel Floyd was born in 1765 in Pennsylvania and died 11 July 1849 in Woodcock Twp., Crawford, Pennsylvania. He married first Elizabeth Buchanan, daughter of Andrew Buchanan about 1791 in Monaghan Twp., York County, apparently on land Elizabeth inherited from her father. They moved north to Cumberland in what is now Upper Allen Twp. around 1803, and stayed there until about 1832. Elizabeth died after the birth of her daughter Hannah in 1811, and Samuel married Margaret Porter sometime before the birth of their only son, William Porter Floyd on 31 Oct 1814. Samuel moved to Crawford with his wife, son William, son George, and daughter Hannah. His son Allen remained in Cumberland Co. & son Samuel remained in Hanover, York Co., PA. I will attach a descendancy chart and some pertinent documents later to this posting.
