I am looking for information related to Joseph and Dolly Shirk. Here is what I know:
Joseph was born around 1842 in Pennsylvania and married Dollie (born around 1845), probably in the 1860s. They resided in Walker, Juniata County, Pa in 1880, according to the 1880 US Census. Joseph's occupation is listed as "farm labor".
Here are their children that I know of:
Margret J. (born around 1863)
Gerge or George (born around 1864)
Alice (born around 1867)
Sarah A. (born around 1977)
There is a very interesting piece of information in the 1880 US Census, there is also a son listed by the name of Charles Snouffer (born around 1870 or 1871). There are no other Snouffer's listed on the census sheet and the census is actually transcribed as Charles Snouffer, son of Joseph and Dollie at Ancestry.com. While the other children are listed in order by age, Charles is listed last.
There also appears to be a Yona Swabb (born around 1823) living in the Shirk household, listed as a "boarder".
I would appreciate any information at all, pertaining to the people listed above. I believe that Charles Snouffer is a distant ancestor of mine and I have been trying to solve the mystery of what his relationship with the Shirks is.
