I am searching for Asa Johnston(born in PA.) who married Ruth A. Daily in Ohio in 1835. Ruth was the daughter of David Daily of Orange Township, Meigs County. In 1820, there were three Johnstons in Orange Township who could have had a son the age of Asa. They are Isaac (born in PA, Abraham and William (born in PA). In the case of William, he may have been a grandfather. All Johnstons are gone from there by 1830 and we can't find any land records for them for 1820 or anytime in that area. They may have been renting three parcels or working for other families.Asa had four children. Matilda, Reuben who was born Oct. 24, 1838 in Meigs County, Charlotte and Seldon. The next we see of this family is 1850 with Ruth living in one household and her children split up among two other. We assume Asa died because she married Thomas Ward in Athens, Ohio Oct. 27, 1851. She is single again in 1860 and is the head of her household with her boys and Charlotte living with her in Madison Township, Scioto County, Ohio. In 1865, Ruth and her family moved to Camden, Carver County Minnesota. Matilda married Benoni Daily and died in Ohio. We have several members of this family that have searched for Asa's father for over 25 years. If anyone can help us with more information, we would be very greatful. We are trying to find his father and where they came from in Pennsylvania. It would be nice to fill in the blanks of their life in Ohio as well.
