Hello Blance,
Orphan's Court in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, County of Philadelphia is a branch of the court system that deals with such things as marriages. If I am not mistaken, it does not actually deal with Orphans but may include deaths, last will and testaments, estates and other topics not included in Commonwealth Court. I believe that you may be on the wrong track regarding Margaret being a orphan because you saw the documents were from "Orphan's Court". (just a guesstimate on my part). I also believe that Margaret's father signed the papers for her to marry because the legal age back then was 21 not 18.
To be sure, send for the actual copy of the marriage license BUT by all means also purchase the "Marriage License Application Form" which is filled out by the two persons getting married and contains much more information than the actual marriage certificate, including addresses, parents, etc. BTW it was a common practice for the Father to sign as he was considered to be the head of household so therefor Margaret's mother may well have been living at that time and that information should be on the Marriage License Application Form if she was. Good Luck, Jerry Walters.
