Nathan Williams, PA Revolutionary War soldier
I research a Nathan Williams who died near Meadville, Crawford Co., PA, about 1812. He appears to have been married twice, and both wives were named Mary (surname unknown). As I understand it, he was the father of my ancestor, Nathan Williams, who was born in 1765, so he would have been born before 1745 most likely.
My question: Is the older Nathan Williams the Nathan Williams who served in the Revolutionary War from Pennsylvania? That Nathan was a private in Capt. Christian Staddle's Co., May 1777 - May 1778, in the 2nd PA Regiment of Continental Forces commanded by Henry Bicker. From June 1778 - Feb 1779 he, or another Nathan Williams, was in Capt. John Patterson's Co., 2nd PA Regiment, commanded by Col. Walter Stewart.
