Chester Co. RIGHTER's 1800's
I have:John RIGHTER b. 7 April 1801 (parents unknown at this time)d.26 Aug 1881, Montgomery Co., MD.Buried in Burtonsville Union Cem. in Spencerville, MD.I have 5 children listed as - Emeline RIGHTER b. 13 Dec 1829, PA;
Charles J. RIGHTER b. 13 Jun 1835 PA; George Christopher RIGHTER b.about 1840, Chester, PA; Annie RIGHTER b.4 Jul 1844, PA; and John H. RIGHTER b. 1848, PA.The places of birth are from the 1860 Montgomery Co., MD census.
On Charles RIGHTER'S death certificate his mother is listed as Margaret CLINTON.
I suppect, but haven't proved, yet, that John RIGHTER (1801) may be the son of John RIGHTER of Brandywine, who died and left a will that was proved 1815.He left 8 children.5 of them of age: Michael, Jacob, Lewis, Joseph and Mary.2 boys over 14 but not of age: Jesse and "John"; and 1 children under 14: Elizabeth.THe mother of these children was Ann RIGHTER who petitioned the court for guardianship for the 3 under children.
There is aJacob RIGHTER in Carroll Co., MD that died and left a will.He had no children of his own, so everything was left to his brothers and then nephews and nieces.It list his brothers as: Jonathan, Jesse, Lewis, Joseph, ,"John", Michael, Sarah, Anna, Eliza.Ironically, many of the same names as those in John RIGHTERs will of 1815.
I do know that John RIGHTER (1801) and his sons moved from PA as he shows up in the 1860 census in Montgomery Co.,MD, which joins Carroll Co.
Any information on these families would be greatly appreciated.
