Does any of this fit with your family line?
Note: I have posted on Genforum before but I now have a new e-mail address: gwill6060@sbcglobal.net. Thanks. Please head any messages with name Wm Williams from PN. Thanks.

Extract from family letter written by Henry Philips Williams on Feb. 17 to Mr. Will Williams of Osceola, AK:

"Sometime about the year 1700 there came from Wales a man who was the father of your great-great grandfather. I don't know his name but he settled in PN and his son William Williams, in course of time moved to Caldwell County, NC where he married a Miss Thomas. this was in or about 1742. Several children were born of this marriage, his son Elisha being the second child. Now this Elisha Williams was the father of your Grandpa Josiah Williams. He was married in 1772 to Miss (Sarah) Josey and had three sons and one daughter. Will Williams, born 1776 (father of cousin Jack), Aunt Betsey born in 1778, Elisha (the second Elisha), born in 1782 and your Grandpa born 1786. The family moved to TN in 1804 I think, and your Grandpa Josiah williams married Margaretta Phillips ( this may be mispelled as others have it with one "l") in 1815 and had twelve children: James Williams, your father was one of the twelve.."
