Coal mining fatality
My search for grandfather's final resting place has lasted many years. He came to America in 1901 and we understand that he died porbably in a coal mining accident about 1902 before saving enough money for his family to come to America. The family thinks that he may be buried in Western Pennsylvania.I have been to the State Archives in Harrisburg to check the coal mining fatalities with no success. The University of Pittsburgh also did a search for me with no luck. Also, the Diocese of Puttsburgh searched their archives but his name did not appear. These are his statistics:
Mihaly Muszka, born Damoc, Zemplen Megye in 1862, his parents were married in 1861, he married Maria Bodnar and came to America in 1901 to die soon after in an accident, coal mining or otherwise. He had three children, Elizabeth, Mary and Julia, my mother-in-law, who was 2 years old when he died.
If anyone has information about coal mining fatalities in the 1902 era or possibly maybe factory fatalities (steel mills)I would very much appreciate any information available.
