Shannon/Mack in Butler County. West Sunbury, PA
Looking for information about Robert Flaherty & Martha Imes. The only SOLID
information I have is that their daughter, Lula Flaherty, was born 1895 in Frankfort,
Kentucky.
There was another older daughter, Nora. Nora married a Sullivan & lived in Cincinnati,
Ohio. Mr. Sullivan had a business in Cincinnati. I am not sure what the business was,
perhaps a book publishing/distribution?
Martha Imes Flaherty died a short time after Lula was born. Robert Flaherty remarried to
Shannon, first name unknown. [Unknown] Shannon had children prior to marrying Robert
Flaherty: Roy, William & Anna Shannon. It is not known if there were children born of the
Robert Flaherty & [Unknown] Shannon marriage, but it is likely. Perhaps Elsie is of the
union. Elsie was in Louisville, KY married a Pat Harrigan, he died & she remarried to
Unknown . There is a Walter Shannon but I don't know how he's related.
I have some information about the Shannons: William Shannon was in Lexington, KY. I'm
told his occupation was a street car driver & had some fingers missing due to a wood
chopping accident.
Roy Shannon was in Lorain, Ohio in 1920; later moved to Butler County, Pennsylvania.
Roy Shannon had 5 daughters: Estelle Wray, Frances Ray, Anna B. Mack, Regina Bovaird
and Betty. Betty died very young. Anna B & husband had several children, lived in
West Sunbury, PA. Regina & her husband, Richard, lived in Barnegat Light, NJ.
Frances & her husband, John, lived in Rocky River, OH.
Walter Shannon lived in High Bridge, Kentucky.
Other names mentioned include: Belle Sharpe & Sue Abrams in Kentucky.
Lula Flaherty ended up in an orphanage (Little Sisters of the Poor) at age 4-5 yrs.old.
Lula later married John Sams & lived in Frankfort, KY (Peak's Mill) until 1923; moved to
Ottawa County, Ohio.
Anyone with information about Robert Flaherty (do not know when th O' was dropped
from Flaherty), about Sullivan in Cincinnati, the location of Little Sisters of the Poor or
any of the names mentioned please contact me.
