searching Elias Deitrich
I am at a brickwall and need suggestions and help. My 2x Gt Grandfather was ELIAS DEITRICH and all I have is that he was born somewhere in Pennsylvania on or about 12 February, 1816.The next record I have of him is when his first son, Levi Deitrich was born about 1838 in Ashland County, Ohio. From there, they moved on to Defiance, Ohio and ELIAS and his wife, Lucy Ann had the following children: Jonathan, Sidney, Franklin, Charles, and Mary.He died in Defiance 19 September, 1884. My line comes from Levi, and then from his first son, who was also named Elias.Apparently the first name of Elias is a common name on my line.I have found an Elias Detrick indexed in the 1820 census of Northampton County, Pennsylvania in Smithfield Township, and his wife was named Effie. They had 11 children and in the middle of their children, they had a child named ELIAS.I am trying to find out if there is anyway someone can tell me how to determine if maybethis child of theirs named ELIAS could have been born about 1816.I am trying to trace my line back into Germany, and right now I am brickwalled at 1816.I have found out that ELIAS DEITRICH was probably of the German Dunkard faith because he was one of the founders of a church in Defiance, Ohio and quite probably was traveling with a German Baptist Minister by the name of John Arnold.I know this sounds really confusing with so many common names of ELIAS, but I am desperate.Any help is truly really appreciated. Please E-Mail me with any thoughts or findings or advise. Also, as you know Deitrich has many many spellings through the ages.Thanks.....Frank Deitrich
