Lee-At the risk of complicating your search, my quick look at the Monacan Nation's history web-site (www.monacannation.com/history) revealed that they were and are a Virginia tribe, and that only a small splinter group spun off and stayed briefly in PA before moving on to Canada. Of course, some of those who went to PA may have returned to VA, following the path you outlined - but there is no hint of that in their history. Be careful not to confuse the Confederacy of Five (Virginia) Nations with that of the Six (Penna.) nations. I found a reference to Edgar WhiteHEAD but not WhiteMAN.
One of their tribal members invites further inquiries via E-mail, so you might try sending an inquiry to [email protected](perhaps he can pin down where in PA the splinter group spent time before moving on.) Hope this helps. -Bill in PA
