My ggggggg grandfather was John B. McClelland born in Antrim Ireland 1710. Do not know wife name or what ship he came on.He had a son William in 1733 in Antrim also.He had another son Charles do not know were or when.My gggggg grandfather Lt. Col. John B. McClelland was born 1735 in Lancaster, PA.
He married Martha Dale and their children were, John B. Jr., Alexander, Hugh andrew, Johanna (my link),Jane, Elizabeth and Samuel Emanuel.
In 1776, John was appointed to a citizen's committee to procure armes and ammunition for the defense of the country against the Britsh as the sparks of the American revolution were kindled. He with his two sons John, Jr. and Alexander elisted in the Colonia Militia of Pennsylvania.
British and becan attacking the settlers, John was commissioned a major and made third in command of an expedition to eliminate this menace.During the Battle of Sanducky, he with two other officers were captured tortured, and killed. Detail the manner in which the bodies of the prisoners were dragged to the outside of the town and their carcasses given to the dogs while their limbs and heads were stuck on poles.Because of this sacrifice, the commission of Lt. Colonel was confered upon him.
