I am looking for any information on James McCracken. He lived in
Buffalo Valley, Centre County, Pa. at the time of the Revolutionary
War. I don't know when he settled in Centre Co. Pa. His parents
may have lived here, also. Sometime after the war, he moved to
Clearfield co. Pa.
He had 5 brothers and one was named Cyrus. Cyrus moved to Ky.
sometime after the Revolutionary war.
I am also looking for any information on whether or not James
served with General George Washington at Valley Forge. I have
heard this but have not been able to confirm it. And would like
to confirm it one way or the other.
James was married to a Rebecca Greenwood and they had 12 children
and their first child was born in Centre co. Their children were;
Joseph, b. 1775, Robert b. 1777, James b. 1779, married Mary Jordan and
moved to Iowa, Thomas b. 1781, Daniel b. 1784, John, not date on birth but was married to Mary
Bell and moved to Iowa, William b. 1788, Greenwood died when young,
Mary not date given but married William Hepburn, Margaret not date
given, married John P. Dale, Nancy not date given, married James
Clark, and Sarah not birth date given but died 7-11-1824 and married
James Fleming.
