Betty,

Thanks for responding. I have been to Friedens and have seen the stone you mentioned. We know that Emma was a daughter of John and Barbara Carroll. We know that she married a gentleman surnamed English but have found no record of such a marriage and do not know her husband's given name or if they parented any children.


There are other Carrolls in the cemetery also located in the southeast corner who are descendants of James Carroll, John's brother. When we were there we saw flowers and evidence of care for the site. I can't help speculating that whoever provided that care may be a cousin.

Thanks for writing. I was absolutely enchanted by the area with its beautiful rolling green hills. The farmland that was the boyhood home of John and James is located a couple of miles south on Williamson road where the road bulges to the east and back.
