Both the 1850 and 1860 census records have George Hottel, born 1779-1780 living in Upper Saucon, Lehigh County.
In following the descendants of this man, it seems that his family used "Huttel" on their tombstones in Northampton/Lehigh.
I suspect that George was descended from either Georg Michael Hittel (buried at Jerusalem Western Salisbury) or from Johannes Peter (died 1764 and is considered to be the "Father of Old Zionswille Church" by its historians).
Does anyone know something documental about George?
