Can anyone help solve this puzzle? It's assumed by many that the wife of Wilhelm Rex (1751 - 1821), Heidelberg Twp., Northampton/Lehigh County, PA, was Elizabeth Handwerk, daughter of Johannes. This is based on the number of their children who had Handwerks as their sponsors. But there is no Elizabeth mentioned in the will of Johannes Handwerk. His second wife, Anna Maria, was the widow of Andreas Meyer. The Meyers had at least 8 children (6 surviving in 1767). One of these was an Elizabeth, born in 1751. This Elizabeth became the step-daughter of Johannes Handwerk. Was she the one who became the wife of Wilhelm Rex? Was the wife of Wilhelm Rex Elizabeth Meyer, not Elizabeth Handwerk? Would appreciate hearing from anyone with proof either way. This has thrown a big curve in the line of Wilhelm Rex.
