My ancestor, Abraham Wootring came to America in 1733 aboard the ship Richard & Elizabeth. His daughter, Maria Magdalena b. 3/16/1728 in Alsace, married Paulus Balliet in 1748 son of Stephen Balliet and Maria Schweitzer. He was born in 1717 in Alsace/Lorraine and died 3/19/1777 in Whitehall, PA. (The Susanna mentioned in Darby Franz' posting may have been Paulus' sister since both fathers have the name Stephen.) Their son, Stephen b. 1753 married Magdalena Burkhalter abt. 1773 daughter of Peter Burkhalter and Eva Deshler. (This is the one referred to in Micky Dawson's posting.) I have 10 children listed for them: Magdalena, Jacob "John", Maria Catherine, Stephen, Susan, Eva, John, Nicholas, Paul, and another Magdalena. I have some additional information on four of the children if you would like it. Sorry I could not be more help.
Nancy
