Maxatawny & Oley Sebastian Zimmerman 1740 ish
Sebastian has many sons and daughters: Abraham, Jacob, Issac, Sebastian etc. This family later going to Schuylkill County.
I have an article that tells me that my decendant owned a tract of 107 acres in Maxatawny. It says in 1752 he purchased from Wistar's heirs the adjoining tract of 251 acres and subsequently became the owner of several other tracts makin him a large landed estate. Sebastian was a Judge of the County Court in 1768. He was also appointed by the court to help layed out a road that leads to Philadelphia. He wife was Elizabeth Levan. This road is called Allemaengel Road and it is said to be part of Lehigh County and Berks County. I also believe that Oley (where he was originally from is in Northampton County or was at one time). The road started at the New Jerusalem "RED" Church. Does anyone have any information to point me in the right direction? Is this church still around? Where would I look for more information on the Oley area dating back to the late 1700's? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
