Cousins in Australia: Dalziel & Grandin (sisters) -possiby Hughes

I am trying to discover the maiden names and relatives of cousins who were sisters with married names of Dalziel and Grandin. They were living in AUSTRALIA by1924. By 1931 the Grandins had a married daughter named ELSIE, and two sons, CHARLES (a musician, living in Sydney), and HERBERT (connected with the railways, with two sons and a daughter in New South Wales.)

One of the sisters may have been Mary with a married or maiden name of HUGHES. The sisters may have been born in LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pennsylvania, USA (Blakely, Olyphant, or Throop) or at least lived there long enough to get to know their relatives. Their letters were asking about relatives named JONES, PRICE (Mary b 1875 and Louisa b 1879), KNIGHT (Walter Knight 1904-1974 and Margaret Jones Knight 1840-1916 or Margaret Phillips Knight 1872-1974) and EVANS (all of whose families had originally come from southern Wales.) They mentioned an uncle HENRY JONES, who lived in Cardiff, Wales. They discussed an upcoming legal decision about a family property in Wales. (Our oral family history was that a "castle" = manor house had been lost for a hundred years through gambling.) The sisters may have had a relative around Sydney named Jones, perhaps David Jones.

Letters from 1921 or 1924 had return addresses of J. DALZIEL, Main Street, Stawell, Victoria, Australia and C. GRANDIN, 118 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne, Australia.

DALZIEL: On-line Service Records suggest that J. Dalziel may have been JOHN WILLIAM DALZIEL, born c 1881 in Stawell. John was a blacksmith and served in the 39th Battalion Veterinary Corp, 3rd Australia Division. His father was John GIBBON Dalziel, Main Street, Stawell, Victoria.

GRANDIN: On-line army records suggest that the Grandin husband may have been CHARLES GEORGE GRANDIN (born in Stawell). His mother was Elizabeth Ann Grandin, 13 Mellenson Street, Richmond. (His army records suggested a name change: his name on some forms was written Charles George ADDISON and this was crossed out and Grandin was written above it.) By 1918 he was married to Louisa Jeanette Grandin. who was living at 97 Page Street, Albert Park, Victoria.

I would appreciate any information which you may have about who these cousins were. I am hoping to learn the sisters’ maiden names so that I can link them with our family from Lackawanna County . And we'd like to know about our cousins' families in Australia.
