John SHEA d Sept 26, 1927 Taylor boro of Scranton, PA

John SHEA 70 of 212 S. Main St. Taylor was stricken with a heart attack on the porch of the home in which his daughter Mrs. Catherine ROONEY of 1329 Monsey Ave. lay dead last night. The aged man was rushed to Taylor hospital but he died as he was being carried into the institution. Mr. Shea was widely known throughout the lower valley and news of his death came as a shock to his wide host of friends and acquaintances, as he had apparently been in excellent health.The funeral of the daughter was held this morning from the family residence with a requiem mass at St. Paul Church. The pall bearers were; James SHEA, James MC DONOUGH, Michael CLIFFORD, John DAY, James CLIFFORD and Cornelius SHEA. Interment was made in the Minooka Cemetery.
Death certificate states John J. SHEA was 70 born October 1856; lived in Taylor; was a retired miner who worked for DL&W Railroad; wife Margaret GILMARTIN; he was a widower; parent John SHEA and Catherine RYAN both born in Ireland; Informant was John J. SHEA of Taylor, PA.
