Hi Ed,

I found Clarence and Alice in the 1900 census of Scranton, as follows:

9th Ward, 609 Gibson Street

Name                     Relation       Born              Age       Marital status       Occupation
Pryor, Clarence E.       head              Apr 1847       53       M24              Sheriff
Pryor, Alice              wife              Feb 1860       40       M24

The returns further indicate that Clarence and Alice and both their parents were born in Pennsylvania, that Mary was the mother of no children, living or dead 0/0, and that they rented the home on Gibson Street. Clarence and Alice are the only two individuals present in the household.

I also found the same family in the 1880 census (Scranton), as follows:

Peter D. JOHNSON Self M Male W 49 NJ Piano Tuner NJ NJ
Carrie JOHNSON Wife M Female W 38 NY Keeping House NY NY
Annah S. JOHNSON Dau S Female W 9 PA At School NJ NY
Clarence PRYOR Other M Male W 35 PA Keeps Store PA PA
Alice PRYOR Other M Female W 25 PA PA PA
George PRYOR Other S Male W 9 PA PA PA
Mary MURPHY Other S Female W 21 PA Servant IRE IRE

If you’d like, send me your e-mail address and I’ll send you a jpg file of the census page.

Sincerely,

Jeff Thomas
