I'm working on my husband family of Carlsons and Gustafsons from the Pittsburgh, PA area but I found them in the 1900 census in Anita, McCalmont Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Carlson, Carolina Oct.1853 age 47 Wd born Sweden Immg. 1890 Carlson, Hulda Dau. Oct. 1876 age 23 b. Sweden Immg. 1890 Carlson, Walter son Apr. 1893 age 7 b. Pennsylvania Living next door is who I believe to be another daughter of Carolina: Gustafson, Charles June 1870 age 29 b. Sweden Immg. 1885 Gustafson, Selma June 1880 age 19 b. Sweden Immg. 1890 Gustafson, Edith March 1899 age 1 b. Pennsylvania Later, (in 1910) Charles and Selma moved to Cowanshonnock Twp., Armstrong Co., PA and the father of Charles (Gustavus J. Gustafson, age 69) was living with them, and then by 1930 they are in Stow Twp. Allgheny Co., PA which is near McKees Rocks, PA. As far as we know Charles' mother's name was Caroline Johnson. Edith is my husband's grandmother. Charles worked in the coal mines there in Jefferson Co.PA. Check out this link before you respond: http://genforum.genealogy.com/gustafson/messages/544.html Judy helped with finding the following: http://genforum.genealogy.com/gustafson/messages/539.html Now I know where in Sweden the Carlsons came from but still not much about the Gustafsons. Still trying to get a grasp on that patronymic name thing. Still confusing to me but it's getting better. Hope someone out there is connected and has more information.
