What are the birth, death dates for Benjamin Franklin Snyder? How does he relate to Eli Snyder? Could you mean the Benjamin Franklin Schneider / Snyder from York co., who changed his name to Taylor? b Dec 23, 1837 York co., Pa. Married Phebe S. Flinn / Flynn in York co., Pa. and had two children to her. Problem was that simultaneously he had a child to Mary M. Baumann named William Lemuel Snyder abt 1861. Solution was to go to the Civil War, changed name to Taylor. AFter the war he moved to Brookville, married Sophia Shick and had a large family there.
This Benjamin Franklin Snyder/Taylor was a nephew of the famous Philip P. Taylor who had also changed his name from Schneider / Snyder to Taylor. Philip P. Taylor's mansion in Brookville is still there and now the Philip P. Taylor memorial home, a nursing home. He and other Snyder familt members had moved from York co., Pa. to Westmoreland co., Pa. not long after 1800. Philip P. Taylor is in early census records there, beside Snyder / Snider family relatives before he moved to Brookville.
Philip P. Schneider / Snyder / Snider / Taylor's father, and the Benjamin Franklin Snyder / Taylor 's father, George Jacob Schneider / Snyder were son's of Benjamin Franklin Schneider / Snyder / Snider b June 19, 1772 Shrewsbury, York co., Pa. and Anne "Pelle" "Polly"

I hope this is the Benjamin Franklin Snyder you are looking for! It is a brick wall until u know about the name changes.

I am brick walled on my Jacob Taylor and wife Elizabeth Lewis, settled Clarion co. Pa bef 1825 and he also MAY have changed his name. one of his grandsons was living with a son of Philip P. Taylor of Brookville in the 1880 census which is one of several factors that has made me hunt for a link to the Schneider / Snyder / Taylor families.

Do you know of any relationships, marriages or any connection to the name Taylor, Lewis, Clark and I have other descendents that could connect somewhere. Will share info if you think there could be some link somewhere.
