Looking for info on Italian miners, laborers and their families, as well as information on a stone cutter or mason named Giovanni Brun (aka John Brunn), of Andreis, Friuli, Italy.
He lived with his family for a time in Elk County, I believe, in a place called Ridgway, PA. Apparently many Italians lived there, too, most from the NW region of Italy known as Andreis, Friuli or the Pordenonne and most were miners or laborers.
My Brun family were Italian Presbyterians, not Catholics.
The Bucco family intermarried with the Brun family in Italy and in the USA. The Bucco family were from Andreis also, sometimes referring to themselves and the area as Frisanco or Udine.
Giovanni Brun married Domenica Bucco in Italy; their children were Luigi, Silvio and Maria Cristina Brun. Giovanni Brunn was known as John Brunn in the USA. His children took the name Brunn also. Luigi Brun became Louis Brunn and is my great grandfather.
Giovanni's brothers in the USA were Giuseppe and Angelo. His brothers back in Italy were Giacomo, Natale and Lutgardo Brun.
Relatives in the USA with the name Brun from the same place in Italy are or may be: Pietro Brun, Caterina Bucco (married to Pietro), Angelo Brun, Antonio/Tony Brun, Cristina Brun, Paul Brunn, etc.
Any and all info on the Bucco or Brun or Brunn families from NW Italy welcome!
