I am looking for information about two Thompson families who first settled in Franklin County, then later in Indiana Co.
The first is the family of Robert Thompson who was born in Scotland about 1732 and settled in Chambersburg, Franklin County, PA. He married Mary Gordon. Their children were Moses, Alexander, William, Adam and Ruth. Robert and Mary and their children William, Moses and Adam later moved to near Lewisville, Conemaugh Twp., Indiana Co. about 1790, and lived there until their deaths. Moses and Adam and their wives are buried at the Ebenezer U. P. Cemetery near Lewisville.
I also have a Robert Alexander Thompson who was born in Derry Co., Ireland, and immigrated to Franklin County in 1789. His wife was Mary Cannon. This Robert also moved to Indiana County and died in Rayne Twp. in 1809. He is buried at the Gilgal Cemetery.
The two Robert Thompsons were likely related in some way. What I am looking for is information on siblings of these Robert Thompsons or other relatives they may have had in Franklin County (then Cumberland County) when they moved there. I am especially interested in knowing if either had a sister named Eleanor who married William Ewing. William and Eleanor lived near Mercersburg in the 1770s.
