John and Samuel Ramsey (or Ramsay), 1790 and 1800 censuses

I am seeking contact with anyone researching the following Samuel Ramsey and John Ramsey (or possibly Samuel Ramsay and John Ramsay).

Samuel was recorded in the 1790 census for Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania (no township specified) with stats of 1-1-1. On Heritage Quest's database, he is at Series: M637 Roll: 8 Page: 113. On the same page is a John Ramsey (or Ramsay), with stats of 4-5-4.

Elsewhere in Huntingdon County were:
Archibald, 1-0-2
Alexander, 2-0-1
David, 3-0-3
and
William, 3-3-4.

I believe this William is the one who had moved into Huntingdon County from Maryland. I believe the others all came from further East in Pennsylvania. I believe that David, Alexander and Archibald were all related. I am trying to discover whether Samuel (and/or John) were related to these other three.

I believe the statistics on this Samuel Ramsey are subject to various interpretations, but I believe the two most likely are either a very young couple, with a first child (a son, so likely less than five years old) OR an older couple, with their last child still at home (a son perhaps 13 to 15 years old). If the first interpretation is followed to its logical implications, then this Samuel might have been about 20 to 26 in 1790, and so born between 1764 and 1770. If the second interpretation is followed, this Samuel might have had other older children who had already left the "nest" and if this Samuel was about 40 to 45 when the last son was born (ca. 1776), then Samuel might have been born 1730-1735 or so.

In the 1800 census, there was a Samuel Ramsay (or Samuel Ramsey) in Huntingdon Boro of Huntingdon County, with stats of 3-1-0-1-0 for males and 2-0-0-1-0 for females. These stats would be consistent with the first of the two interpretations of the Samuel of 1790, and so it might be the same man with a family that continued to grow after 1790. The Samuel of 1800 was between 26 and 45 (so born between 1755 and 1775, and to have a son over 10, he was likely at least 29, so born before 1771. Combining the information from 1790 and 1800, this Samuel was most likely born between 1764 and 1770.

In the 1800 census, there was also a John Ramsey (or John Ramsay) in Dublin Township, Huntingdon County, with stats of 0-2-3-1-1 for males and 0-0-1-0-1 for females. These statistics seem to be consistent with the John Ramsey of the 1790 census and so it is likely the same man. If we assume that the four males all over 16 in 1790 were John himself and possibly three sons, at least ages 17, 19 and 21, then John himself would likely have been over 41 in 1790 and so over 51 in 1800. We can infer that the two sons between 10 and 16 in 1800 (guesstimate ages 13 and 15) were the last two children born to John and his wife, and if John was between 40 and 50 at the birth of the last child circa 1787, then John might have been born between 1737 and 1747. Thus, this John would probably have been born early enough to have been the father of Samuel (born 1764-1770).

Does anyone have any information on this Samuel Ramsey and/or John Ramsey? Were they related? Were they related to the David, Alexander and Archibald of Huntingdon? Please contact me directly at duaneaboggs@hotmail.com to exchange further information.
