Mrs. Estella Z. Evans Brownfield, 75, of 110 North Market Street, Carmichaels, died at 8 p.m. Monday, April 23, 1973 in Greene County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born April 4, 1898 in Davistown, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Naomi Hunter Evans, and was married on October 12, 1937 to the late Ash D. Brownfield, who died in 1969.
Mrs. Brownfield had spent the past five years living in Carmichaels, and was member of the First Christian Church, Carmichaels.
Surviving are her four daughters, Mrs. Silas (Cecil) Higgenbotham of Carmichaels, Mrs. Clarence (Nannie) Higgenbotham of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Charles (Mayme) Wertman, of Eastlake, Ohio, and Mrs. Paul (Edith) Hope of Canonsburg; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Iren Houser of West Elizabeth, and Mrs. Nick (Anna) Yokopovich of Jefferson; two stepsons, Owen Brownfield of Fairchance and Charles Brownfield, from the state of California; a foster son, Frank Lake of Fairchance; 28 grandchildren; 46 greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Guy (Olita) Pitch of Freedom.
A son, Blaine, and a brother, Harry, are both deceased.
