Greene County is about 60 miles south of Pittsburgh and in the most extreme southwest corner of Pennsylvania. Washington County is to our north, Fayette County is to the east, and Monongalia County, West Virginia is to our south. Waynesburg is the county seat and the largest town in Greene County.

Cornerstone Genealogical Society in Waynesburg (724 627-5653)is great for early records, but for one later in years like yours, I don't know what to tell you at the moment. Maybe they could give you some advice.

There are several Kress' listed in the telephone directory that hopefully would be of some help to you: Benjamin L. Kress, 298 Adamik Road, Clarksville 724 883-2328; and I.E. Kress, 501 W. South Street, Carmichaels 724 966-9043. I'm not familiar with this surname.
