Wisherds/Wishards of Franklin County PA

I have traced my ancestors back to Franklin County Pennsylvania. In the mid 1800's they migrated out to Illinois. The farthest back that I can go with certainty is Elizabeth(Cole or Coal spelled differently in two biographical sketches)and John Wisherd. Born in the late 1700s. They had at least two boys named Jacob b. 1817 who married Catherine Stahl m. 1842 and Edward b. 1825 who married Amanda Smith m. 1850. Her parents were Mary and Samuel Smith. The problem I have encountered is that there are so many Wisherds/Wishards (The spelling is interchanged constantly. The same individuals have different spelling from document to document.)in Franklin County and they all have the same names John, Jacob, James, Samuel, William and Charles. With most of the women being named Mary or Elizabeth. (Very original name givers!) It is really dificult to sort them out. However because they are so numerous I am sure that a decendant had sorted this spagetti bowl out. If anyone has or has any information about the Wisherds/Wishards of Franklin county I would be eternaly grateful. Also any informaation about the Coles or Smiths if they are related to Elizabeth or Amanda would also be welcome.
