Hi all. I'm looking for any and all information on a family in Forest County by the name of Fogle. Tradition holds they are of Pennsylvania Dutch (German) extraction. The information I already have suggests they are descended from a Henry Fogle, born in Maryland in 1780. The Forest County branch descends from his son Henry, born in New York in 1811. This Henry's daughter was Samantha Jane Fogle, my great grandmother. She is listed in the census as Jane, and I think that's probably the name she usually went by. Her obituary in 1921 states: "Samantha Jane Fogle was born Dec. 28, 1850, a daughter of Henry and Hannah Fogle, pioneer settlers in Forest county. While she was still a young child her parents bought the large acreage in Forest county which has ever since been known as the Fogle farm." I have heard modern references to a "Fogle Farm Road" in Forest County, and assume this refers to the same area. There is more information about this branch on my website, http://www.digitech.org/~john/gene/ (photo, obituaries, etc.) Any info on other branches of the family, or on ancestors further back than Henry Sr., very much appreciated!
