Thomas L Fitzgerald Canada to Erie PA
Posted by: Derek Byrne (ID *****9923) Date: May 15, 2011 at 17:33:31

I am hoping to find some information on my Fitzgerald roots.

I believe my gggrandfather was born in Erie, PA. His name was David E Fitzgerald (although listed as John when he got married to Delia Brooks in Boston). He was born in 1886.

We do not know much about David nor do we know much about his family. When my ggrandmother was young her father simply never came home one day.

David's parents were Thomas L Fitzgerald b.1865 and Ida Robins b.1865. Ida was born in Erie, PA and Thomas was listed as "Canada English." He immigrated to the US in 1884.

I believe there were 5 children in all: David, Harry, Bertha, Mamie (Mary?), and Paul R. I cannot find anything on any of these siblings.

Thomas L Fitzgerald's father was born in Canada and his mother was born in Ireland.

I found an 1881 census in Ontario that lists a Thomas Fitzgerald born in 1866, to the parents of Thomas Fitzgerald b.1816 in Canada and Mary Fitzgerald b.1840 in Ireland. The children are Robert, Thomas, Mary, and John. I have no idea if this is the same family but it seems consistent. This Canadian generation is speculative. If anybody descends from Thomas and Mary I would love to compare to see if it lines up.

If anybody descends from Thomas L Fitzgerald and Ida Robins I would also love to hear from you.

Thank you,

- Derek
