Mary Plumb was born to Chauncey & Sarah Zipporah (Bonney) Plumb abt 1828 (I believe in Williamstown, New York where her older sister Lydia was born). Very shortly thereafter the family migrated to Greenfield, Erie, Pennsylvania.
In the 1850 Erie (Greenfield), Pennsylvania census "Mary Davis Plumb" is listed in Chauncey & Sarah's household (born in New York, 21 yrs. old), with Ann Eliza Davis (3 yrs) and Charlotte Davis (newborn).
In the 1860 census on the page before Chauncey & Sarah's household, James Davis is listed with a Mary (b. 1828), Ann(12), Charlotte (11); along with "Thomas (7), Daniel (3), Lydia (2)" and Charles (2 months) Davis. Mary (Plumb, b. 1828) had siblings named "Thomas, Daniel and Lydia."
I believe this is Mary Plumb. The problem I have is that the census-taker has James Davis as born in Wales. He also has Mary as born in Wales (hash marks under James' birthplace). So although I believe this is the same Mary, Ann and Charlotte, I hesitate to make that assumption.
Does anyone know of the Davis family, particularly this James and of his marriage to Mary, or if this is indeed Mary Plumb?
