I haven't found out much yet. My Mother is waiting to get some information from my uncle. He was going to copy some information for her but she just hasn't gotten out to get it yet. She tends to stay home when it's too cold out - worries about getting sick - she was really sick last year. She thought she might go to visit my Uncle (Leo) tomorrow.
My Mother did tell me that she knew that Sadie Rigard was Helen Bauer's mother - I didn't know that. I know Helen - she is married to Don Bauer. They had four children - 3 girls and one son (John). John was a very good friend of my brothers - he was killed in a car or motorcycle accident when he was very young. One of his daughers was a year or so older than me, one was my age and another a couple years younger. I knew them when I was in High School - they went to the public school and I went to Elk Christian.
I heard from Sylvie Rigard (from Alsace Lorraine). She mentioned that she knew of an Antoine Rigard born in 1844 who went to the United States in the 1870's. She said he was married in Illinois and had a daughter Diane Rigard. I guess Diane married a Mr. Johnston and returned to France 10/7/1885. Apparently that is not the Antony or Anthony that we know. She said that she has a software of geneaology that she could send me. She also said that if it is not the same person she would research it for me. I sent her some of our information. I thought that was so nice of her to offer to do that for me. I will continue to correspond with her. She sent me the message in English and I sent my message back in both english and french. I hope to hear from her soon.
I will let you know when I have any new information. Whenever I went to a different town or city, I would look in the phone books for Rigards and never found any. I guess there were all in the St. Marys area - except for the one that married in Illinois????
