John B. Burns Cumberland County Pennsylvania

I would like to hear from anyone who has information concerning any of the lines descending from John B. Burns of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. According to information I’ve seen on the internet, John B. Burns was born about 1681 and died in 1760. I’m investigating the possibly that my Burns line descends from him.
My earliest identified Burns ancestor is Henry Burns who was in Morgan and Marshall Counties in Alabama in 1830, 1840, and 1850. Henry died in 1859 in Morgan County.
I’ve hit a brick wall with Henry, unable to find where he came from or who his parents were. Since Henry Burns had a son named Laird and all the Laird Burnses that I’ve looked at so far seem to trace back to John B. Burns, I thought there might be a possibility that this Laird did also. Anyway, I’m trying to construct lines descending from John B. Burns to see if there is a place my Henry Burns could possibly fit.

In 1850 census Henry Burns was 60 years old and said he was born in North Carolina.
In a later census, one of Henry’s daughters said that her father was born in Georgia.
Family tradition says that the Burnses came from Tennessee to Alabama.

THE FAMILY OF HENRY BURNS AND LEVITHA/LAVISA (STANDRIDGE??)

1. John Burns
Born prior to 1830 census
Henry Burns’ estate documents (1859) stated that John was in Marion County, Alabama.
Marion County, Alabama, census of 1850 and 1860 has a John Burns working as overseer on Jane Bankhead plantation.
According to Henry Burns’ estate papers, his estate was still unsettled in 1866. John Burns was listed as deceased at that time, so he died sometime between 1859 and 1866.

2. Laird Burns
Born prior to 1830 census
Henry Burns’ estate documents (1859) stated that Laird was in Mississippi.
Laird Burns was probably the L. Burns listed in 1860 census of Marshall County, Mississippi, enumerated with Nancy King. He is listed as overseer.
In 1870 Morgan County, Alabama, census, he was with his mother Lavisa Burns, his brother William, and his sisters Nancy, Harriet, and Sarah.

3. Hezekiah Burns
Born prior to 1830 census
Hezekiah married Mary Ann Rutledge on Nov. 16, 1838, in Morgan County, Alabama.
Hezekiah had already died at the time of his father’s estate settlement in 1859, so his children were named as heirs in his stead: John M., William P., Anne E., Margaret, and Hiram.

4. Mary E. Burns
Born prior to 1830 census (about 1829)
She is with parents in 1850 census of Marshall County, Alabama
Mary E. married Hiram B. Wright in Morgan County, Alabama, on 20 May, 1855.
According to Henry Burns’ estate records, his estate was still unsettled in 1866. Mary Burns Wright was listed as deceased at that time, so she died sometime between 1859 and 1866.

5. Nancy A. Burns
Born prior to 1830 census
Henry’s estate settlement stated that Nancy is of “unsound mind.”
Later census records indicated that she was deaf and dumb.
She was with parents in 1850 census of Marshall County, Alabama.
She was still with her mother in 1870 census and 1880 census of Morgan County, Alabama.

He is in 1860 census of Tippah County, Mississippi, listed as a farm laborer with the family of John and Mary Walker and child Robert Quinn (listed as W. Carroll Burns age 27). He is in 1870 census of Morgan County, Alabama, with his mother Lavisa, his brother Laird, and 3 of his sisters.

8. Harvey L. Burns

He was in 1850 census of Marshall County, Alabama, with parents.
