It helps if you post when and where she died. But from Rootsweb I see she died in 1922 in Nebraska. If you haven't already I suggest getting her death certificate and obituary. They might have have her parents' names. Her obit might have her siblings. You probably have already looked at the 1850 census for Alexander Thompson in Crawford County. There was one age 41 with Mary 38 living in Spring Twp. In 1860 this couple is in Chautauqua Co., NY. In 1870 and 1880 they are in Ashtabula Co., OH. Their children were Hugh, Mary, William, Sarah, Rachel and Emma. You can look at the death certificates for all but Hugh and Mary for free in this database: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1195390820093#p=collectionDetails;c=1307272 If you can't find Martha's obit with the parents or siblings listed perhaps the siblings list her in theirs. However, Rachel, Sarah and Emma outlived Martha. Until you can find death dates for Hugh and Mary, it looks like William is the only good prospect. The Ashtabula Genealogical Society might be able to help you: http://www.ashtabulagen.org/ They list in obits a Hugh Thompson who died in 1889. I think he might be a good candidate. Also several people in Queries are working on the Thompson Family. Of course Thompson is anything but an uncommon name. Hopefully I'm not sending you on a wild goose chase.
