Was your Thomas Sloan a son of the William Sloan who was a member of the Briarcreek Presbyterian Church in 1807? It's a possibility, since Thomas named his first son "William". Have you accessed "The History of Columbia and Montour Counties" on the net? You may find more about your Sloan family there. I'm going over my records to see if I can detect if Elizabeth Aikman Sloan moved down to Iowa when her father and family moved down. So far, no luck. She may have remarried and remained in Canada.
