Hi,

I got the Cape Breton idea from a women who thinks that my immigrant William Laughlin is one of her "g-grandmother's brothers who moved from Shamokin - most of her siblings were born in Nova Scotia, possibly Sydney, Cape Breton," she wrote. She was going to look into it more, but I dont think she ever fould anything to possitivly connect our families.

The only Laughlin I have much info about that may have been your Helen's dad is James F. Laughlin born 1870. He died in 1899, and I only know of one child of his, William James Laughlin b. 1896. He married Elizabeth Chapman in 1895, so they had time to have more than one child. She remmarried John McHale in 1905 under the name "Lizzie". William Laughlin's other children I know nothing about except what is on that 1880 census. I would like to find out about them.

I sure would like to see the other censuses. Not all of them are online, that I have found. I have not seen one for 1900 for either Schuylkill or Columbia Counties.

I don't have a Patrick Laughlin in my small collection of records either.

Jay Laughlin
