The 1850 Census lists John C. Hess as the father of Santee Hess. Santee Hess is buried in Scarboro Il. next to my great grandparents. He was in the Civil War for a few months and got sick and died in Chicago Il. Did the family move to Illinois between 1850 and 1860? I have the Hess family in my family tree. So I'm wondering if I am related to this family. The father was listed as a farmer.
John C. Hess 35yr. farmer born Pa.
Elmira Hess 30 yr wife "
Moore Hess 8 yr. "
Santee Hess 6 yr. "
Rodah A. Hess 2yr. daughter " (name looks like Kodak)
They lived in Sugarloaf Twp. Columbia City Pa.
