I'm trying to figure out my husband's Patterson/Hess line and I am stuck. There was a Salome Hess who was born in Pennsylvania 1830 and then married Thomas Patterson, also born in Pennsylvania about 1823 (Lancaster County but I don't know township). In doing a search of the 1850 census in PA, the only Salome Hess I can find is 47 years old, married to a Jacob Hess in Centre Township, Columbia County, PA. Also in the household were a son William, 21, laborer, and a son Wilson, 9, as well as a Sabilla Fenstermacher, 12. When I went backward to the 1840 census and looked at the household of Jacob Hess, there were these people listed: 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20, 1 male 30-40, 1 female under 5, 2 females 10-15, and 1 female 30-40. I am thinking that the Salome I am looking for is one of those two females in the 10-15 age range, but I don't have any way to confirm it. In the 1850 census, Salome is already married to Thomas Patterson, 19 years old, and living in Newton Township, Miami County, Ohio. Thomas and Salome (who went by the name Anna or Annie in later censuses) had at least 14 children together. My husband's GGrandfather was #7, Joseph Franklin Patterson. If there is anyone who can do a look-up or check their files to confirm that Jacob and Salome Hess had a daughter named Salome, I would really appreciate it so much. It would fill in a big blank for me -- without it, I'm at a dead-end. Thank you again. God bless. Maryanne Patterson pattersons@paxway.com Notify Administrator about this message?
