J, Jacob Swisher, b. 4/6/1775, (Sarah Pegg, b. 3/1/1780, d/o William Pegg, Sr., a founding member of Christ Church, Derry Twp., 1795). Jacob was the s/o Philip Swisher, b. abt. 1730, (m. 3/5/1765, at Dryland Ref. Luth. Ch., Nazareth, Hecktown, Northampton Co., Catherine Kreiling, d. aft. 1787). He owned 334 A. in Turbot Twp., in 1784.Some believe he drowned while crossing the Susquehanna River. On 10/8/1784, a letter of administration was granted Catherine Swisher for his estate. Jacob Swisher, Esq. came to Derry Twp.a abt. 1794. He also was a founding member of Christ Church, attending from 1795 thru at least 1838. The church was built near his tannery. He was Constable of the "New Territory," and was a delegate from Derry Twp., to Bloomsburg on 2/15/1816.
