Berwick became a Borough (Pennsylvania for City) in 1817 and is listed separately from the townships after that. Prior to 1817, Berwick was a part of Briarcreek Twonship.

In the 1820 census Berwick was listed in the Briarcreek twp. census and then all the names were repeated in the Briarcreek census. This was probably to determine if berwick had the necessary population to be a borough.

In the 1810 census Berwick/Briarcreek twp were part of Northumberland Co.

Very early in the settlement, Briarcreek was Turbot twp., Northumberland Co., PA.

Hope this unconfuses you more than me!
