I'm researching an ancestor of mine by the name of Josephine Smith Lane who married Robert M. Lane in Loudoun co, Virginia in 1901. She relocated to Clearfield, PA and was an active member of the Allen AME congregation during the turn of the 20th century. She died in New York city in 1936 and her body was returned to Clearfield for burial in the church cemetery. I am interested in locating a gravemarker for Josephine Lane in the Allen A.M.E. church cemetery? It is also possible that she may have been buried in a white cemetery as many people would have easily confused her for a white woman.
I look forward to hearing from anyone out there.
